Rondeau M378 #001

The very first 'Rondeau' built, chassis M378/001 was entered in no fewer than 10 editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At its debut it won the GTP class and would also go to finish third overall in 1980 and second overall in 1981. At its final outing, in 1988, 'Old Number 1' reached the finish but ultimately was not qualified. Following its active racing career, it was sold to the United States where it was briefly campaigned in historic events. It has since been restored to its 1980 GTP-class winning livery and maintained to full running order. It was acquired by the current owner at the 2012 Monaco RM Auctions sale. He had the Rondeau restored to full running order and brought it back out during the 2014 Classic Endurance Racing rounds at Mugello and Spa-Francorchamps ahead of a return to Le Mans for the Le Mans Classic.
